EPILOGUE
So
we see Jesus, but not yet as He fully is. Even after
all these highly descriptive names and titles,
there is still much more to Him. He is more than each
individual title can portray to our minds eye---that
is why the Scriptures are so rich in the number of them.
Even so, our Jesus is more than all the titles collectively.
One
Gospel was not enough to describe His short life on
earth; four gives a broader outline. We are certainly
given enough information for the purposes of salvation,
but the Christ is still too big to hold even in four
Gospels.
There
are a great number of types and shadows of Jesus throughout
the Old Testament. Many of the ancient characters
were representative of Christ in the circumstances of
their lives; these included Moses, Isaac and Joseph.
Even inanimate objects told in various ways of our Saviour
and His saving office: the ark in which righteous Noah
and his family were kept safe from Gods wrath; the
Ark of the Covenant, its contents and its construction;
the Tabernacle, its fittings and furnishings. As beautiful
and precious as these things were, they were still poor
shadows of the One they represented---the true King
of glory (I think Ive discovered another title here!):
Lift
up your heads, O you gates; lift them up, you ancient
doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is he,
this King of glory? The LORD Almighty---he is the King
of glory.
(Psalm
24, verses 9-10).
I
am sure more titles for Jesus can be found in the Holy
Bible, and I am certain that much more could be written
about each one, and in many ways other than I have managed
in these pages. However, I hope my brothers and sisters
in the Lord have been excited and encouraged by this
book---I certainly have. I also sincerely hope that
one or more readers who were not sure about Jesus have
now found faith in Him.
Thank
you and God bless
Colin
